Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina or divine reading represents an ancient Christian practice of praying with Scripture. It became a regular practice in monasteries by the time of St. Benedict in the 6th century. During Lectio Divina, the practitioner listens to a text from the Scriptures with the “ear of the heart”. The method of Lectio Divina includes moments of reading, reflecting on, responding to and resting in the Word of God. The interaction among the moments is dynamic and the movement through the moments follows the spontaneous prompting of the Holy Spirit.
